Hi Eileen,
well from one expert to another, this is defintely worth a try. I was advised by Bryn to do one thing at a time. As alredy stated, Dairy is quite easy to cut out so that's what I started with. I did this for 2-3 months before I tried gluten. This was for a couple of reasons, firstly so I could get used to the change in Charlotte's diet & the familly could get used to either going without, or eating chocolate icecream in the bathroom! Secondly it was easy to see if it had any real impact on Charlotte's behaviour - which it did. As each of our children are unique we all have different results, Charlotte didn't become calmer or more able to focus overnight, but after a month, it wasn't just us that noticed a change in her.
I then did gluten free for two months & didn't really notice any benefit, so decided to put her back on gluten & just stay dairy free. Wow, BIG mistake!!!!! After one day, I knew gluten had an impact too, she became hyperactive, walked on tip toes, wet her bed and was so 'off the planet' that we immediately went gf again.
I won't compete with Bram's desciription of 'why gfcf works, it's good enough for me!
Suffice to say that yes its time comsuming, yes it takes a bit of getting used to, yes it can be more expensive, yes your cooking takes on a whole new 'experimental' phase, but hey, what else are you doing with your time!!!!!! It's worth it.
Have fun! with love
Kimx
