My wife Kimberly went to the Start-Up program in December 98'. Our program started basically New Year's Day. Our now 4 1/2 year old son has improved in so many ways. Best of all he is so very happy to interact with people. His eye contact is so good, at times in a two hour session I may only have to ask for his eyes two or three times now. Brenen went from one word "wants" like "Ship."to phrases like "I want pirate ship please." or "I want go on swings." He is so very affectionate now and is learning more every day. One week after our first video feedback, Brenen became almost completely potty trained. He is such a hard worker. Last night I said "I love you. Can you say that?" He said back to me, " I love me please." He has moved so far.
We want it all however. Of course we don't need Brenen to be any different. And never the less, we have made the choice to do whatever we can to help Brenen be all that he can be. As Brenen learns each day we see that we have tried different approaches to help him. Clearly, our Son-Rise program has had the biggest impact. Even with this in mind, Kimberly and I felt we needed to do something more. Maybe for Brenen, maybe for another autistic child. We decided to form The Brenen Hornstein Autism Research and Education Foundation (The Bhare Foundation)so that we could sponsor research that we feel is so very needed. We are going to sponsor research relating to the gut as well as a possible vaccine connection. Our education aspect, will of course include the Son-Rise program.
