Hello,
Josh and I are fortunate that he really benefitted from secretin. He lost a lot of autistic behaviors and gained tremendously cognitively overnight.

I think it is possible he was helped so much because he had been casine and gluten free for a year and a half prior, treated for a yeast and bacteria overgrowth, and was kept home the majority of the time. Josh picked up stubborn illnesses from the other children when he was in school, and when we pulled him out, he has never been sick again since. What most kids shake off in a week with antibiotics, would not go away with Joshua. We would be in the emergency room with allergic reactions to antibiotics and dangerously high fevers that would not come down.

I agree with Hilda's comparison to insulin. I stopped when I did not see more improvement, but it was really helpful and he has not lost any of the cognitive gains he made. I wish they would try and understand why and how it works rather than trying to prove that it does or doesn't.
