I still work on these feelings. If someone is in close vicinity and are looking, I just smile and look at them and say, Patrick has autism. Sometimes that is enough and sometimes that opens up a conversation to explain what it is or sometimes people share that they know of someone with autism. I can't do the hair cuts. Jeff has to do that. And we haven't done the church thing very often, although since I'm running a ministry for disabilities and chronic illness, more and more people are getting to know me and my family so it bothers me less because I know they know. But I too am still working on these feelings every now and then.
