No, you are not alone. I have seen some kids start talking after Secretin, one family, in fact one is doing Son-Rise. I have seen some kids not benefit at all. However, we are reluctant to pursue this avenue. It's a tough choice. Our reluctance is the fact that even "natural secreting hormones" can be harmful if administered incorrectly (examples: insulin, adrenaline, cortisol, etc.) One day too much progesterone/estrogen causes one causes and prevents enough. My aunt died of pancreatic cancer last year, so we are a little bit wary of jumping into this. I don't think one or two injections just to see if it would help would harm Patrick; however, something that has to be constantly administered has me worried. And they don't really know the best way or best dose. I remember stories of when insulin was first introduced (a pork derivative), and because they at first did not know what dose was proper and sometimes the experimentation resulted in hypoglycemia and death. We respect every parents' decision to choose what is best for their child. We don't have the answer yet as to what we will do. I think a wait-and-see approach is best for us right now. I wish we would have been this cautious about his vaccinations because he did get worse after his MMR shot. I would like to see Dr. Rimland do a study of women who have elevated rubella titers while pregnant, which I did. I think Patrick was born with this just by what we experienced. I think my high rubella titer wound up interfering with his development and caused this. I didn't realize it until just recently when I saw my rubella titer when I was 18 years old and when I was pregnant with my first child who died. There was a huge difference, and if there IS a link between MMR and autism, then it would be logical to say a high rubella titer might be influential during pregnancy, too. Just a theory I have.
