: I think this is a question which should be asked of every organization in the autism field. If Options really is functioning ethically, then there's nothing to be afraid of in Samantha's investigation, and people shouldn't be so hostile to the idea.:
I had not intended for my reply to Samantha's questions to sound hostile. If anyone read it that way, please understand that my intention was to state that I felt there was a much more interesting story in all the kids who've been helped, parents who've gone all out to help their children and the effect it's had on those who volunteer in Son-Rise programs. However, questions are always good and help us learn more and I'm sure the Option folks will be happy to answer her questions if she were to set up a phone meeting and go through the proper channels to get it.
I do want to mention that since Samantha introduced herself as someone working with a Son-Rise child, I was a bit disconcerted to read the way she worded her questions and to hear she seemed to be focusing so heavily on assuming the motives of the Option folks as being less than honest. I say "seemed to be" because I cannot know her motives but that's the way it sounded to me. If she were one of my volunteers, I'd happily answer her questions and have a full discussion/debate on it if she wished and provide any info she wanted but would ask her to not continue working with my child until she could become comfortable with the program. I'm not trying to be disagreeable here but the folks working with our children need to believe in the program we choose and our children's potential rather than trying to go against it.
I wish Samanta all of the best. Perhaps someday she'll make a wonderful investigative reporter :). Gaylen
