Hi Jen'
I could relate to this one a bit. Charlotte's favourite 'ism' is twiddling with paper & I remember when we first went to the US for our Intensive, she kept hold of the same peice of paper for 7 hours during the journey! I'm guessing but I put it down to security, something familiar for her whilst all around her, her world was different and changing. maybe this is how Josh feels when he goes to the babysitters? Why do you want him to let go of his belongings anyway?
If it's something you want to go for, I'd model it but keep your coat near by, maybe on the floor next to him so he can still see it. Maybe there is something Josh would be willing to 'trade' for his coat? Also you might like to dialogue about how you feel about him not letting go of his stuff - if you feel uncomfortable in these situations, Josh will probably pick it up too. Hope this helps, keep up the great work!
Love Kimx
