hello...there's nothing wrong with that...i personally had bad experiences at my daughter's previous school where they were following these methods, and i'm sure it had everything to do with the fact that they were not implementing them correctly. for example, they would show her a picture of a cookie, for example, at snack time and ask her to give it to them if she wanted a cookie. she would then actually approximate the word "cookie" and they still "made" her give them the card to get the cookie...thus leading to her frustration and probably the conclusion that words aren't good enough to get you what you want. the whole year she never really benefitted from the pictures but they kept pushing her to use them and not concentrating on language which she was starting to develop. that's my personal experience with that method, so i think it's totally wonderful for kids who do benefit from it :)
