No you're not the only one. My son, Adam, will be 12 in a couple of weeks. He is not high functioning but I love him just the same. I often wondered why you don't hear much of people with older autistic kids. Do they just give up? Put them in residential? I guess the laws make you put them in residential programs before they become a certain age otherwise the we would have to pay for it (I think here it is 22 yrs old) It's hard to imagine being 60 years old and living with and/or paying for you ADULT autistic child. Man, just the thought depresses me. John : First of all my thanks to Clare for helping me understand Autism from your side of the world. It has helped to : talk to Adam about it. : Secondly, aren't there any parents with teens that have high functioning Autism or PDD (NOS)? Or am I : the only one alone out here?
