Dear Natalie,
After a year of dye free Nystatin formoulated by the Apothecary at $85 a month, we switched to Biocidin, an herbal product reccomended in Dr Shaw's book "Biological Treatments for Autism and PDD." You can buy it from Emerson Ecologics at 1-800-654-4432. You won't need a prescription, but you might feel more comfortable chcking with Dr. Shaw first. It only requires a few drops but you need to mix it in something like orange juice because it has a taste. (I didn't need to do the Yeast Free Diet. It is hard enough to do gluten casine free.)

A month later we retested (Great Smokies Comprhensive Digestive Stool Analysis)and the yeast and bacteria were within normal limits. In that month, Joshua's pronunciation, eye contact and level of awareness improved. I don't think Nystatin was good enough.

The first week there was very messy stool, and lethargy. He would fall asleep on the floor in the middle of the day. I guess withdrawl.
Good luck,
Jen
