Both biological children diagnosed with autism

My cousin's two children, a boy age 5 and a girl age 3 are both autistic. She has no other children. I'm wondering if anybody has ever heard of multiple children in one family having autism. Also, she has been trying the Son-Rise approach but is having extreme difficulty applying it to 2 children. The time that she has available is becoming increasingly less per child as their needs continue to grow as they grow. She has had a hard time getting volunteers on a regular basis as she lives in a very rural area. This has left her feeling overwhelmed, drained and depressed. Not because she doesn't have hope, but because she lacks the enormous amount of energy it is taking to help both children. Her husband of course works, (midnights) and takes all the overtime available to offset the ever-increasing medical bills that pile up. I want to help her as much as I can but I just don't know where to start (I am currently volunteering to work with her son one night per week). In addition, it is my understanding that Indiana (where we live)doesn't have well-funded Special Ed/Autistic Education programs & support systems, so state help has been at best minimal. If anyone has any advice, information or anything at all, please respond.
