: My son Joshua is 4 1/2. His behaviors fall into the aspergers category. He is very verbal. This is my dilemma. If anyone has any suggestions or similiar experiances I would appreciate it. Joshua always had very regular bowel movements, although he still is in diapers and very resistant to using the toilet. Six weeks ago he decided he was not going to poop. Just prior to this he decided he could not chew. As with alot of his behaviors we moved with it and didnt get to concerned, and it disappeared. We did have an xray early on to rule out a blockage. Joshua tells us he is holding his poop, that he is never going to poop again, not for a million years. He progressivley gets more and more uncomfortable, cannot participate in activities, we see alot of older behaviors , then gets ill with stomach ache, gas, vomiting, Now he is leaking and getting rashes.
: So to what degree is it button pushing? I am speaking with all involved in terms of there comfort level, Looking at my comfort level. We talk to Joshua a lot regarding his body and how it knows what to do and how food that is not used for energy is eliminated. I feel in a way it may be a control issue so we are also looking at giving him more control in other areas. I actually used a suppository this week and he was ok with that . I was thinking maybe he was to out of control. I thought I saw a shift in his thinking through that experiance , but here we are again in the same situation
: . Again any thoughts are appreciated
: Lisa
