Wanted to share. I went away in September for five days; first time I've been away from Patrick since he was born -- overnight was the longest. Jeff said Patrick walked around the house from room to room. Very obvious he was looking for me. Then he went to the rocking chair of his room and said, "Maaahh." When I got back, I leaned into the back seat and put his cheeks in my hands and said hello. This child would not look at me the entire evening. He wasn't too thrilled I was trying to hug him either. Next day he was back to his goofy self. He missed me. Pretty cool, huh? But it gets better.
I was at a conference on this past Saturday and was gone from 10:30 in the morning until about 7:30. When I got home, he was SOOOO excited to see me -- jumping up and down more than usual, smiling, running over to me, Patrick-hugging me (a bite-his-hand, lean into me hug). Then he says, "I ra roo." I kept repeating this to him. And the more I said the more excited he got? I thought maybe I missed you, but later it hit me, I love you. Totally unprompted. I was on cloud-9 (maybe even higher! Ha!)
