Thanks for everyone's thoughts. I agree that I do not wish to waste my time trying to convince this guy with a self-induced learning disability. I am considering gathering up some info for the professor who asked me to talk to him though, not to request that they offer my program for class credit (I'd be hard pressed to do that now) but for him to consider for future Son-Rise programs in the area or at least be a buffer for the other professor's negativity when students question alternative therapies.
I am interested in how you guys found out about the community service requirements and groups at your area high schools? Did you just call up and ask? Any pointers you can offer? That would really be the most appropriate for us at this time since I am looking for 2-3 volunteers to only come 2 hours a week to help Curty build his toy playing and friendship skills. He's so booked up with other things throughout the week and everyone who works with him now is doing mainly school work and structured therapy so we want to add in some more fun stuff in addition to the time he plays with friends his age. I want a variety of volunteers for short segments now as opposed to the consistency and longer hours we were looking for before. I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks! Gaylen
