Gaylen,

I guess my question to you would be "What do you think?"

As an advocate for the Son-Rise Program, my wife and I have talked to many people. I am reading "A Miracle to Believe In" for the second time now and I just read something that Bears wrote, perhaps that relates to your situation. He repeated to himself after being "attacked" for his work. "Talk to those who want to listen, and let the rest be." I have used this many times. Some want to know more and others don't. I would rather talk to people that want to listen, than defend my stance with someone who doesn't.
Whatever you decide is the best way to go.

Since I am on here now, I will use this opportunity to tell you about a public charity my wife and I started. I have mentioned it before but it has been a while. We started the BHARE (Brenen Hornstein Autism Research and Education) Foundation a few months ago. If you have a "gut" kid you would be interested to know that we are trying to fund research in this area as well as autoimmune/vaccine connection. We raised just over 15K so far, but have a long way to go. I also put together a "parent information pamphlet" that contains many different treatments. If you would like a copy or more info about the research we are funding, please E-mail me at

By the way, in my area the high schools have something called the "Share program". Students have to do 20 hours of community service in order to graduate. We had lost four volunteers this past summer and were getting "desperate". My wife called two local high schools, and she pulled it off. We are the only "program" that is not an "agency" or corporation that was put into the choices for the students. We put in our description that they had to do 4 hours per week for at least 6 months plus a monthly meeting. A choice to do 20 hours or well over 100 hours. How many did we get? We actually had to turn down two people and have started "a waiting list". We got six people from the program and another two from church within one week. It is odd, because my wife had asked all summer at church with no response. Then, one morning my wife took Brenen with her because I needed a break. That was the key.
Anyway, just as it looked like our program was about to have a few people left, all these new wonderful people showed up. The best thing about it is that we had many people doing 1 or 2 hours per week before. Now we have a full schedule with ten people doing 4 hours per week as well as another five who are "alternates". Anyway, the bottom line is don't ever stop asking if you don't seem to be getting results. Just ask in a different way next time and be patient.

Sorry so long winded, but I had a lot I wanted to share.

Bram Hornstein
