Does a definite diagnoses help or hinder?

Although my 2 year old daugther is speech delayed and has limitied eye contact, her ped does not think she has PDD or autism. I see, however, after gaining info and talking with other parents, that she does display some tendencies. Would getting a definite diagnoses help or should I just do my best to accept, love, and do a sonrise program no matter what the delay. I would love to hear from other sonrise parents out there.
