We are running a Son-Rise program with our son and we use PEC's. We have had great results and both programs can so easily be combined. Son-Rise is all about attitude and acceptance and rewarding all achievement. PECs can be introduced in this loving accpeting manner. We have a wonderful speech therapist who started our son on PEC's before I even went to Start-UP and before the playroom was set up. Post Start Up I just explained the whole Son-Rise concept, asked her to read Son-Rise The Miracle Continues and we just all started presenting the pictures in a positive and fun manner.

The thing is, she sees him once a week for one hour, we work with him daily, so we pick up the new methods she wants to use and we 'adapt' them to our needs. Do give PECs ago, it has certainly helped our son who has made amazing gains with his language in the 3 months sice Start-Up. Good Luck!

We are running our son-rise program with our 5year old
: son, and are getting great results.
: We have run the program for over a year but have not made any improvements with our son's speech.
: he can say the odd word on his terms but thats it.

: We had a look at the picture exchange method of communcation and could see some good ideas in it, we did not consider it before because we wanted to go for the full words and not to rely on pictures.

: Is there any person out there using another means of communcation in the playroom or this pecs method that you could give me advise on. regards Paul
