Dear DC Can you imagine what it might be like if someone suddenly came and took you away from your home without warning and took you to a strange and foreign country where you did not understand the language know the rules.And can you imagine people wanting you to do things that felt frightening or unnatural to you....and telling you off when you could not understand why.And when you tried to find ways of keeping yourself amused and occupied and taking care of yourself and finding some security people took your games away or got angry or irritated.And can you imagine that you are only 4 years old. Now can you imagine how it might feel to you if someone came and gently sat beside you and tried to join in with the games you had created for yourself and kept you company then very slowly after a while gently tried to teach you about this strange country without trying to make you let go of your security all at once. Perhaps the toilet training is not the most important thing.Perhaps forming a connection and friendship is needed first.The greater the challenge the stronger your connection may need to be to face it. ....Whether he is autistic or not.It might help to read'Sonrise the miracle continues' by B kaufman.
