So, what do you do after the 3 days are up? If you feed him the foods you don't want him to have you are teaching him that if he holds out long enough you'll give in. If malnutrition is not an issue, I would not give in to anything (tantrums, gagging shows, crying, not eating). Also, you might want to get someone to dialouge you about how you are feeling about him not eating and any diet related issues. It's a lot easier to follow through with a diet if you are clear. If he senses a reaction from you (that you feel bad he can't have the foods he wants or whatever), however well you think you are hiding your feelings, he will hold out longer than you ever could. Good luck! Love, L
: So I've gotten all excited about food and present it with the 3 E's. He's only 2 1/2 and as my peditrician : reminds me, picky eatters or non-eatters is very common for this age/stage. I get that part, BUT he can : go days without eatting. and to make matters worse, he's a gagger. He can look at something and gag : or he can touch it and gag. I've do brush him and do joint compressions (an idea that our OT gave us) but : that doesn't seem to work either. Is this something I'll just have to keep presenting food to him and have him : not eat it til he's good and ready.. which at this point may be 3 years of age. To be perfectly honest, I'm : just not sure that he associates hunger with eatting. Does anyone else feel this way? Do you have any : ideas for me??
