I think it is perfictly ok to set a limit that you are comfortable with, with nose exploration to anything. When you are uncomfortable or in pain your child can tell, and then you may be into a button search or other areas. Let him know how you like your nose being touched, gently, on the outside whatever. Model it for him and check out his nose the way you would like you nose touched. Then you will be moving into joining and understanding what he finds interesting about your nose.
