: I've been looking at this possibilty, Charlie eats:- BREAKFAST Orange juice and cereal. (Cheerios/frosties/coco pops)or toast with butter and marmite : SNACK milk and biscuits : LUNCH Marmite on white bread and butter, crisps, yoghurt or fromage frais : DINNER Chips and sausage or chicken nuggets ice cream or cake : I know this diet is the complete opposite of what he would be eating if we take up the gluten/casein free diet. Anyone who has tried it, please can you give me a sample menu of what you did, and what your child eats. : Thanks : Kath

Although it sounds daunting at first, once you get organised, its not so bad. Here is a sample of my 4 year old son's menu:
Breakfast: 2 egg omlette or gluten frre toast with melted cheese (sheep's cheese not cow's)
Snack: A banana (or any other friut) and 2 rice cakes or a handful of almonds and some raisins
Lunch: Salad with avocado,tomato, sheep cheese and fresh mushroom, dressed with cold pressed safflower oil and lemon juice. Or: grilled chicken breast and steamed broccoli
Snack: Homemade fries using organic potatoes and cold pressed safflower or sunflower oil.
Dinner: Gluten free spaggheti with bolognese sauce and some fresh salad vegetables Or: grilled fish with steamed vegetables.
To start out get your shopping organised. Go to the healthfood shop and the supermarket and see what is available, almost everything you can think of has a gluten free substitute. Don't forget that many ordinary foods are gluten free so concentrate on cooking those for the family so you don't have to cook separate meals, things like roast lamb or roast chicken, grilled fish, rice dishes with casseroles..... Even breakfast is easy, plain corn flakes and rice bubbles are gluten free and you can use soy or goats milk. Good luck, it has made a huge difference for Richard, my son, I hope it works for you!
