Our Son Thomas is 3-1/2 yrs old. He is somewhat verbal, he has used about 45 words atone time or another, but in meaning only. Most of his language is easily understood by Mom & Dad, but not others. We have started Son-Rise Methods, but have only two very part itme volunteers. I am a stay at home dad with TONS of patience.
Now that the basics are known, I am wondering how some of you handled naps when your children were young. Did you follow your childs own schedule? Did you have a set routine, or scheduled naptime? The reason I ask is because sometimes Thomas resists naps even if he is so tired he falls down. Sometimes he takes me into his room for nap which is beatifull, but other times he resists. I have plastic doo-hickies, or watcha-ma-call-its on the door knobs so he cant get out, and I just lay on the bed and re-assure him it is time to nap. Very often at these times his tantrum will last 1/2 hour before he gives up. I assure you that I am calm & consoling at these times, But I am really unsure if this is really right or not.
