Dear Scarlett
Perhaps if your instinct about nervousness is right and nervousness is part of this then the aim could be to look at why there might be cause for nervousness and look at ways of approaching that. The uncontrollable laughter,if it was as a result of an underlying feeling could be looked on as an 'ism' or perhaps a 'symptom' of another underlying cause. If 'joining proves ineffective are there other things you might do to reduce stress????.It might be irrelevant or not appropriate but Jo started Music therapy in the summer and has decided to make tapes of his sessions.Incresingly if he is feeling things getting a bit too much he will take himself off quietly, and listen to a tape of one of his sessions which is clearly a soothing restoring thing for him.Could music be helpful???.Also..... we find that many phases we find perplexing or worrying will pass of their own accord at times without us doing anything.Perhaps it is not a sign of underlying discomfort?? but just another place being passed through on the journey.Love and best wishes Jeanie.
