: Hi Chris, : first of all, great question. I'm sure most of us have come up with this one to some degree. First of all, I'd look at how you're reacting by trying to show how sad the unwanted action makes you. Any reaction at all & these wonderful, special kids pick it up & keep on doing it - it may be amusing to watch your face as you describe possibly how 'sad' or 'upset' you are when your child does something you don't want them to do. As you said, reinforcing the positive does work, but the real key as i see it is CONSISTANCE. You have to model it, do it and not react each & every time, so that there's no 'button' that your child may be pushing. It could also be that someone else in the family/volunteer group is reacting in a big way too. Also it may be fun to explore through a dialoge, how you actually feel about the unwanted action. Hope this helps - happy detective work! : Love Kimx
