Scarlett,

We did try AIT about four years ago. The only immediate change we noticed was an increase in irritability. This did not last too long. The therapist told us that we would see changes in six months. However, we were not interested in waiting six months for the AIT to work, and we started doing FastForword after about three months.

About six months later Nick had a huge leap in language. His measured expressive language went up three and a half years! However, we were not interested in waiting six months for the AIT to work, and we were also doing FastForword at the time. I am not certain, but I attribute the improved language to Fast Forword, not AIT.

I have been told by an Occupational Therapist that Somonas listening is more effective and more targeted than AIT. We have been doing that and it seems to have a nice calming effect.

There is a book called Sound of a Miracle by Annabel Stelhi that talks about AIT. In the book, a severely autistic, institutionalized girl is cured completely by AIT.

Best,

Doug
