Lisa,

We had incredible good fortune when it came time to do the flooring. Our floor is hardwood, and my wife, Arlene, noticed that the YMCA that we go to had a bunch of gym mats out back. It winds up they were getting new ones, so they gave us as many as we wanted. We ended up only using one, and part of our flooring is still hardwood. This really worked well for us, since you can have races with cars better on hardwood than on the gym mat. At times we have also folded up the gym mat and used it to play with as a ramp, a fort, a tent, etc. It is really quite soft to kneel and play on, too.

I will never forget the time Gerd Winkler came to our house and Nick was interested in showing Gerd how strong he was. They folded up the gum mat and Nick lifted it over his head!

At some point when we are done with the playroom we will have to resand the hardwood, but the whole rest of the house is looking that way anyways.

Best,

Doug
