Our playroom flooring has been a real huge challenge over the years. We first used the exact padding and flooring that Options recommended (this was almost five years ago so they may be recommending a different kind now). This was extremely tough on my little guy's chemical sensativities. It took several weeks of running an ionizer at full blast in the room to get rid of most of the off-gassing. Then, within a few months, the floor did bubble up and crack in places and we constantly had to use white duct tape on it.
When we moved, we just bought the cheapest vinyl flooring we could get and placed it right over the carpeting. This worked better but did tend to slip some and we did have to use some duct tape on some splits.
I do know of two families who had their flooring professionally laid and did not have the problems we did though so if you want to go that route, it would probably be better.
However, if your child is chemically sensative, I'd highly recommend just placing the flooring over existing carpet or using some sort of cotton batting for padding rather than the gym stuff if you really feel you need padding. Gaylen
