Someone mentioned in a previous post that some families do fund raising to get to go to the Son Rise courses. Do you know what kinds of fund raisers they do? I am very interested in going, but do not have that kind of money!
My son is twelve years old, nonverbal, not potty trained. The school system has not done a lot to improve his abilities. They are great people, but they can only do so much.
I really feel that this could be just what we have been waiting for. I recently read the book by Barry Kaufman, "Son Rise, The Miracle Continues." I can't believe I did not know about this book before now! I was so inspired just by reading the forward by Raun Kaufman that I took quotes from the book and copied them down just so I could post them around the house to keep me hopeful.
There have been so many times in the past twelve years when I have almost completely lost hope. The day I bought the book my husband tried to convince me to give up looking for a way to help our son recover. He hates to see me get so depressed. The book taught me that I don't have to feel that way if I don't choose to. Now I plan to take charge of our lives and make things happen.
Well, anyway... Thanks for any information you can offer.
Monica
