I think if he is with you, you can totally go for it. Remeber it's your program and if it is something you want for him, then I say go for it! My son did the same thing when we first started our program. We would give him the correct words at first. Lots of times autistic kids echo, so that helps. So, if Paul wanted me to throw the ball to him, but said throw the ball to you (instead of throw it to me), I would directly tell him..."you would say, throw it to me". Then give him a chance to do so. If he doesn't want to say it I wouldn't push, but if he's with you why not offer. As he starts getting the hang of it, you could take the things he says literally. Like, if he says "you want a cracker" (and meant, I want a cracker), you could say your right I do, and feed yourself one. Good Luck! Love, Lisa

: Hi! I have recently begun doing the Son-Rise program with my 5 yr. old autistic son. He has good use of vocabulary except for pronouns. He reverses them, using "I" for "you" etc. I'm pretty sure that I'm not supposed to come right out and correct him; but how do I help him with this? It's such a confusing concept anyway. I don't know how anyone ever learns it! I've been modeling pronoun usage a lot in our play. Or, am I totally jumping the gun and shouldn't be concerned with it right now? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
: Thanks!
