: : Is anyone going to school with their child. How did you get the school to agree to have you along? Thanks, Lisa

: : In Canada the system is set up such that a parent or parent representative is allowed to attend with any child- as long as payment isn't involved the school has to let you. Maybe there is similar legislation in the US- Best Wishes Lisa!-Tammy

What Tammy says may be true. We have found that there are very few times when a parent is not welcome in the classroom, so it could be that there is a law requiring the classroom be open to parents. The only time I can think of that they absolutely don't want you there is during testing.

That also helped me remember a time when Nick was supposed to have an aid at school but they couldn't find one. My wife was planning to become the aid and actually be paid to go into the classroom-this was OK with the school since they couldn't find anyone. In the end one of our volunteers went in. Is it possible for you to have an aid position included in your IEP?

Doug
