Well, we're back from our trip to Australia and we survived. The three flights there were great. We traveled most of the time during our night. Reyn was wonderful and slept most of the way of the longest leg. He loved take off, landing, and especially turbulents! I was terrified and he was laughing. I felt so relieved when we got there because you know I was so paranoid about how he'd be on the plane. We had a lovely visit with family and friends, and did all the touristy stuff. Reyn had a few screaming fits and bouts of severe shyness but for the most part was fine.
We had a lovely visit with Lisa and her daughter, Francesca, who I met on this board and have been corresponding with for several months.
The trip home wasn't as wonderful. We left early in the morning with little sleep and we were all grouchy. We lost luggage, twice, and missed our second plane which left us 3 hours longer in the Sydney airport then planned. I lost hold of Reyn going through the metal detector and quick as a wink he snuck up behind the operator and pushed the off button to the system. As we apologized and tried to get away quick the poor man was being yelled at by his supervisor. Oh, I felt awful.
I know, I talk too much, but I have one complaint about flying. What part of non-dairy don't people understand? We were "poisoned" a couple of times when there were no special meals(even though they were ordered) and it's impossible to peel the cheese off a hot ham and cheese sandwich. Even when we did get special meals, the main dish would be non-dairy but then there'd cheese, butter, or yogurt on the side! I had to grab it quick before Reyn realized what it was and wanted it. We're just lucky that he and I aren't violently allergic(I'd hate to think what it would have been like having nothing to eat if we were), although our bowels weren't too pleased with us and Reyn's still recovering.
Thanks everyone for your help and concern. I'll shut up and go to bed now that I've put my two cents in several times. God bless, DeeAnn
