: Hi everyone,
: Our son Aaron goes through phases of partying at night. Sometimes he will wake shortly after midnight and keep going right up until the following evening!
: I keep my response low key i.e. I just go in check his nappy and the room temperature and leave. He then tantrums and or plays by himself until dawn. However I seldom get much sleep during this time! Part of my concern is because not only do I feel it more challenging for me to find my 3 e's the following day but that it would be easier for Aaron also if he had the benefit of a good nights sleep.
: We have looked into diet (although there might be something we are missing) and also, as Aaron puts it he has been very "busy" during the daytime.
: I asked Aaron if he knew why he wakes at night and after a initial "don't know" he later told me it was 'cos he is "busier". I think what he means is 'cos he has been so motivated and determind lately he perhaps finds it difficult to "switch off". I'm not complaining..the fact that he can give us verbal clues is such a huge step but would be extremely grateful for any suggestions.
: With love,
: Laura

Hello Laura,
Hope you are ok we are having similar problems at the moment with our son Liam.
We think its the warm spell that does not aggree with him, what we have tried is to slow down towards bedtime remove the main lighting in his room and have only a low voltage bedlight on. Having done the usual its time for sleep now Liam routine we leave him with just a top sheet on.

This did help but when he did awake he would be in a real bad temper, we asked doctor if we could re-try melatonin which did work great last time we had trouble (thinks it's spelt that way) but its not registered for GP's to use in the UK and he gave us VALLERGAN. This works very well and we are now hoping to reduce the amount to zero.

We are convinced in our case its the heat that is the problem and look forward to cooler nights.

I know how you feel about the three E's with no sleep!!

The last Time we used the melatomin it just seemed to kick start Liam into a sleep routine and we then just stopped it with no problems.

Best of luck and keep looking the answer as they say is out there.

Paul and Jenny
