: Has anyone heard of this CST , started by Dr. Upledger of the Upledger Institute in Florida? He testified right after Dr. Mary Megson to Congress in April. Sounds like another deep pressure thing on the brain, as Cam is still interested in pressure on the bridge of the nose. The interesting thing is there is a practitioner in Oeiras, the town where we live!!!! super shocker! thanks - lots of love - Heather

Heather,

My memory is too full lately, but I think I do recall listening to that Dr. When you say CST I believe you are refering to Cranial Sacral Therapy? CST for those of you who don't know has helped many autistic kids be more focused/calm. I don't think that focus stays (at least not with Brenen) unless you continue treatment, and for Brenen the increase is not in the "WOW" catagory. However, I do believe it is useful for him and we have it done 1-2 times per month now that insurance is paying for most of it. "Coding" is everything. Brenen gets so relaxed when he gets "worked" on and it is the only thing he will sit for an hour straight other than his "Prince of Egypt" video. If you find a good therapist and can afford/insurance will pay, I would highly recommend trying this. Brenen really seems to enjoy it and even if it does only a little for him, the pleasure he gets from it is worth it to me. Sensory Integration is so important for our kids. CST is at the very least, one form of that and hopefully it does other things we may not be aware of.
Bram
