: hi everyone...i have a question for those of you whose children had high metals in their system...were there any signs or symptoms that lead you to do the test? i'd like to test maggie for it (the hair analysis) but would like to know if there is any reason for me to believe that she may have high metal count in her system. i would REALLY appreciate any responses!!
: thanks, ola

Hi Ola,
I don't know much about heavy metals. However, I do recall hearing a Dr. at the DAN conference talk about a study that found AT LEAST 1 heavy metal at excessively high levels in 100% of autistic kids tested. Brenen's test showed him high in many. What symptoms are there for heavy metal toxicity? I don't know, but I would guess neurological challenges would certainly be one. If our kids have leaky guts then it makes sense to me that any metals that are taken into the body (eaten)would not be filtered out properly and thus accumulate in the child's system. Furthermore, if our kids do have a measles infection (which I beleive to be the case for many)they become depleted of Vitamin A. The liver, which requires Vit. A for proper functioning, acts as a "filter" for metals and would not be working properly.
What a hard puzzle to put together!! Anyway, Ola I would be surprised if your child did not have at least 1 metal that was excessively high. Gaylen has some good information about how to detox these metals. As I have talked about in prior posts, I feel the #1 priority for many of our kids (other than a Son-Rise Program) is to heal their GI tracts. So much damage is occuring to our kids due to the fact that they have problems absorbing what they need, getting rid of what they don't, and reacting (alergy) to what they shouldn't! Heal the gut first and you have a ripple effect. Certainly if metals are high in your child you would be wise to feed them only organic when possible, and drink only filtered water. I would also learn about the Vitamin A treatment (see www.bhare.org) to help "nourish" the liver among others. Lastly and most important, learn how to heal the gut. That is not an easy task, but I think is critical for our kid's health.
A bit winded, but hope this sheds some light on the topic!
Bram
