high metals?

hi everyone...i have a question for those of you whose children had high metals in their system...were there any signs or symptoms that lead you to do the test? i'd like to test maggie for it (the hair analysis) but would like to know if there is any reason for me to believe that she may have high metal count in her system. i would REALLY appreciate any responses!!
