: Dear Chris, when we took our little boy off casein, there was an immediate reaction. He was up 2-3 hours a night for 3 nights, alternating between hyperactivity and lying in bed staring at the ceiling. Then his sleep pattern normalised again. A week later, we removed all gluten. After about a week, he had a major temper tantrum, which was very out of character, and then 2-3 weeks of lethargy, seeming generally out of sorts, grumpy- just not right.
We removed virtually all sugar from his diet a week ago, and he had a few really temperamental outbursts again, and was very grumpy. We have noticed since then he has been running around far less in his playroom, tho' we did also add in a few new supplements at the same time, so it may be down to that.
We also had a big episode of difficult behaviour when he was off his usual supplements for 5 days so we could get samples for stool analysis.
The way I try to look at it now is that even the stuff that looks 'bad' is a good sign that something is getting cleared out of his system.
Julie.
