: My 11 month old son, Nathan, who has been labelled, "developmentally delayed with autistic-like : charactistics", is in need of a home teaching program. Since I have left my job to be home with him, : money is tight, and I can't afford to attend a program offered at the Option Institute. I have read Son-Rise, : The Miracle Continues, and have lots of ideas for starting a program for Nathan. Has anyone successfully\ : started a program without actually attending one? How did it go, and where did you get guidance beyond : your own insight and love for your child? I would appreciate anyone's ideas and feedback!!
lisa,
first of all, we will help you as much as we can! i strongly suggest the program though. call the option institute first and see if you can get help from them and then see what you can come up with in fundraisers. fundraisers are great cuz it not only gets you to the program, but lets your community know about your child and when you need help again will be more aware. we are always doing fundraisers and asking for help. i have a "Hope Fund" set up for people in Indiana to help them go to the son-rise program. A few things we have done to raise money: we had a car wash and just asked for donations and i set information out for people to read about what their money was going for. they loved the idea and even paid more than they were planning. we raised $1500 in 2 days. we also did a poker walk around our hometown square. i also wrote letters from my heart to different businesses. alot of times businesses are looking for somewhere to donate and just dont know where. please dont give up on going to the start-up program. you can get the money, believe me. people on the board i know have suggestions also. if going to the son-rise program is what you want, you will go there. where do you live? maybe i can help if you live in Indiana. good luck, cant wait to hear when you will be attending the start-up. please feel free to ask as many questions as you want.
