In the beginning I used lots of cop outs to get rid of people who were not working out and I never felt good about it and we didn't stay friends. Now I tend to focus on beth and what I want for her and what is most important to me. I think honesty is the best option. I always tell people what I want from them in the beginning now and say that if it does not work out then I will let them go as Beth is the most important thing in our lives and although i never ever want to hurt anyone i will now let them go. If you feel it is not working how good can it be for them? They might want to go but not want to hurt you. The more recent people I have let go are all still friends with us and keep in touch, as when we let them go we tell them this is no judgement on them as one of the option staff once said it might not be the person wrong for the program but the program wrong for the person.
If you look at it that they are good people doing the best they can but it is not what you want for your playroom then you can't go wrong. I know it is a hard thing to do initally but it does get easier!
Be honest, if they can't keep the level of excitement up then tell them that you've noticed this.
