He does not sit for any length of time. I am doing 5 minutes of work : and 10 minutes play time and then redirect his attention. He gets upset with me and when he does not : want to work. I don't want to stress him out very much. I am using some sign for the visual cues. but i am lost where to : start with him at. we are working on sorting. I need help so anyone please let me know any ideas. : andrea
hi andrea.....i have a few suggestions for you. go to the son-rise home page and read what they have to say about the son-rise program and why it is set up the way it is. this will give you a start as to understanding what you may wish to do yourself. a note on signing - if you sign to a child, then they never have to talk. play with the child, run with the child, make him feel accepted and loved and not judged and everything will fall into place. keep asking us questions as you go if you wish. im not sure what your goals are or what the length of time you will be with this child, but i would seriously suggest to the childs parents the son-rise program and maybe see if you could get them to sign up for the start-up program that the option institute offers and maybe you too could go. are you a teacher? if so, i think you would benefit greatly yourself. good luck and kep the questions coming - we love to help cuz we love to help the children.
