Improving concentration, focus and attention span

Improving concentration, focus and attention span

Postby princessd » Sun Jan 16, 2011 4:37 pm

I have a 10 year old son who was diagnosed with "mild"autism when he was about 3.5 yrs old. He has come a long way since then. He has an aid at school to help him refocus when needed. Is his inability to concentrate at times associated with his diet? What can I do to improve his ability to concentrate and for longer periods of time at school?
FYI - I just started teaching him how to play checkers, (yesterday)

hi,
I agree. Focus on having fun together, doing whatever he likes to do. Remember to work on eye contact too, as that really helps the child to engage with you and be socially motivated to play for longer, as he sees you enjoying the game.
