Diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, Kelly’s son, Zane, was verbal but his ability to speak was limited to short comments or questions to get what he wanted. In addition to a lack of interaction – a common symptom of autism - he would repetitiously and exclusively draw and build with his toys.
Kelly found out about the Son-Rise Program through an autism support group and after only six months of the autism treatment program, Zane has changed dramatically. Through autism strategies taught at the Son-Rise Program Start Up which both Kelly and her husband attended, he has nearly ceased his competitive and exclusive behavior and his interactions with others are no longer based on immediate need. He will now enthusiastically use language to interact with others.
