Q&A session 5 with the Director of The
Son-Rise Program®, Bryn N. Hogan.
Topic: Program Funding
|
Q: Dear Bryn,
Our l6 year old son, Adam, has Autism. We are searching
for help for him. What could The Option Institute do
for us? We cannot afford the $10,000 - $20,000, that
I have figured it would cost us to go through the program.
But I do not know where to turn. Sometimes he is so
close, and other times so far from where he should be.
He has recently gone through some medication changes
because of a planned surgery, and his medication and
his behaviors are very confused at this moment.
Is there ANYTHING you could suggest? Do school
districts ever send children to The Option Institute?
Thank you for any help you can give me.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann J.
A: Dear Mary Ann,
I am really excited that you asked this question. I
would strongly recommend that you call and speak with
one of our Family Counselors. They can provide you with
a free thirty minute call in which they can discuss
with you how we can best be of help.
I thought perhaps I could clarify our available programs
for you. The most useful and immediately helpful program
we could offer you is our Son-Rise Program®
Start-Up. This is a one week program,
here on our campus in MA, where parents, professionals,
volunteers and family members come for a group program.
It is an incredibly rich and full program and we have
had many, many people with children your son's age and
older who have felt it was extraordinarily helpful (perhaps
if you call, we could give you some names of other parents
with children your son's age that you could call).
Also, I am not sure where you came to understand that
you could only attend a program here for the price you
listed. Actually, our Son-Rise Program®
Start-Up (there is one coming up in June
here in MA.) costs $1995.00 and we also have scholarships
available for families who are in need of support. So,
in this way, I think we can be accessible and helpful
to you. Please do call us.
With warmest regards,
Bryn Hogan
I hope that as the weeks
progress, I will have ample opportunity to answer all
the questions from everyone who is wanting support.
For me, this is another rare and unique opportunity
to offer our support and guidance to those who want
help. Thank you all for making this exciting exchange
possible through your participation. Please know you
can contact us by telephone to speak to a staff member
if you have more questions. Call us at: (413) 229-2100
